The Johnson County School Board, at their meeting this week, approved the transportation request from Sheridan County School District #3 to continue to operate a bus to pick students up in Johnson County that will attend school at the Sheridan district.

In the letter from SCSD3 Superintendent Chase Christensen to JSCD1, he asked to continue operating a bus route that enters Johnson County School District #1, saying the districts have worked together to provide this service and a great education for the children of Johnson and Sheridan counties for the last 20-plus years.

The routes he wanted considered are the U.S. Highway 14/16 route which stops to meet parents at the sawmill near Healy Reservoir and the Thompson Creek route which picks up students at a ranch that lies in both counties.

He said the district is currently expecting 34 students from Johnson County to attend SCSD3 and may possibly be using these bus routes.

The Johnson County School Board approved the request as part of their Consent Agenda.
