A National Digital Media Company, through analyzing various data, has ranked Sheridan High School as the top high school in Wyoming, and has ranked 3 other North-Central Wyoming High Schools in the Top 25 in the state.
US News and World Report has ranked Sheridan High School as the Number 1 High School in Wyoming, based off of data from the 2021-22 school year.
Through information gathered by RTI International, which is a global nonprofit social science research firm, US News analyzed six indicators of school quality and gave each indicator a weighted score.
The categories and weight given were 30% to college readiness, 10% to college curriculum breadth, 20% for state assessment proficiency, 20% for state assessment performance, 10% for underserved student performance, and 10% for graduation rate.
US News posts yearly rankings on both the top ranked high schools in each state and in the country, and although it is unknown how long this has been going on, the company says this is the first time Wyoming has given permission to have its advanced placement data used, which improved the rankings for many schools.
Sheridan HS had a score of 89.89 out of a possible 100 points.
Statewide, Tongue River High School was ranked 15th, Big Horn was 17th and Buffalo was 23rd.
The #1 ranked High School in the country is located in Peoria, Arizona.
Nationally, Sheridan HS was ranked 1,785th out of about 25,000 schools reviewed, putting it approximately in the top 8%.
