Ron RichterSeptember is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide effort to raise awareness about hunger in America and to inspire action. Food Bank of Wyoming is joining Feeding America’s national Hunger Action Month campaign and is asking for the public’s help to nourish communities. Thanks to the generosity of Powder River Energy Foundation, with the support of Powder River Energy Corporation, CoBank, and Basin Electric, all donations — up to $35,000 — made to Food Bank of Wyoming during Hunger Action Month will be matched. Food Bank of Wyoming Individual Gifts Manager Patty Bratton recently addressed the Sheridan City Council prior to reading a proclamation designating September as Hunger Action Month. Bratton said there are five Hunger Relief Partners in Sheridan County that partner with Food Bank of Wyoming.
Food Bank of Wyoming is the largest hunger-relief organization in Wyoming, distributing enough food for more than 25,000 meals every day and collaborating with more than 150 Hunger Relief Partners in the state. Currently, the Food Bank is seeing an increase in demand for food at their mobile pantries and partner locations, with new data showing 1 in 7 people in Wyoming are food insecure.
