Jo Co Comm Gets GMRS Radio System Update

Johnson County’s Commissioners were given the latest information on the General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS), which is a land-mobile FM UHF radio service designed for short-range two-way voice communication.

County Emergency Management Coordinator Marilyn Connolly said the repeater has been purchased and installed.

Gar Jorgenson, with the Buffalo Amateur Radio Klub (BARK),said the system is working better than anticipated.

BARK has, and will continue to offer classes and training for the public to understand the system and how to use it.
