The female victim that fell to her death from Steamboat Point earlier this week, has been identified as a Sheridan resident.

The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year old Calli Aust and her husband, made it to the top of Steamboat Point, and they were planning to watch the sunrise from there, when for unknown reasons, she fell about 200 feet.

She landed at the base of the point and was found deceased about 1 1/2 hours later.

Her husband called 911 to report the incident, but due to poor cellphone service in the area, it made it difficult for rescuers to pinpoint the location.

A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson says at this time there are no signs of foul play, and the death is being ruled as accidental.

The Sheridan County Coroner’s Office is conducting its own investigation.

Steamboat Point is about 12.7 miles southwest of Dayton along US Highway 14, and peaks at 7,877 feet.
