Registration for Co-Ed and Women’s Basketball starts Jan. 2

As snow finally begins to fly in Sheridan, it’s time for basketball players to begin to assemble their teams and get ready to shoot some hoops with the Sheridan Recreation District.  

The Sheridan Recreation District is inviting men and women to compete in the Sheridan Recreation Co-Ed Basketball League. Registration is open Jan. 2, – Feb. 6, 2020. The season will run from Wednesday, Feb. 12, through mid-April. There will be a scheduled break in the season for spring break. Co- Ed games will be played on Wednesday evenings.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Recreation Program Supervisor Zach Stewart told listeners he expects plenty of interest this year.

  • Registration: Jan. 2 – Feb. 6, 2020, sign up online or in person at 1579 Thorne-Rider Park
  • Season: February  12 – mid-April (time off for spring break)
  • Location: Sheridan Junior High Old Gym
  • Game Days: Wednesday evenings, time to be determined
  • Fee: $300 ($275 if you attend the Managers Meeting)
  • Managers Meeting:  Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020 at 6:00 pm at Sheridan Recreation District Junior High School Office

The Sheridan Recreation District is also inviting female residents to grab a team of friends or coworkers and compete in the Sheridan Recreation District Women’s Basketball League.

Registration for this league will also open Jan. 2 and conclude Feb. 6, 2020. The season will run from Monday, Feb. 10, through early April. A scheduled break in the season is planned for spring break. Games for Women’s Basketball will be played on Monday evenings.

According to Stewart, there are many opportunities to register this year and if players don’t have a team, Stewart will find one.

Managers Meeting

The Recreation District suggests that all team managers or individuals planning to participate in either leagues this season attend the Manager’s Meeting. According to the Recreation District, new rules and league details will be discussed and managers will have the opportunity to register their team during the meeting. Those managers who attend will receive a $25 discount on the season registration fee. The meeting will be held on Jan. 22, at 6 p.m. at the Sheridan Recreation District Office located at 1579 Thorne-Rider Park, Sheridan.
