SHS Class of ’76 Launches “Giving Back to Our Roots” Campaign

The Sheridan Community Foundation and the Sheridan High School Class of 1976 have joined together to launch Giving Back to Our Roots, a community challenge inviting all Sheridan High School classes – past, present, and future – and all supporters of Sheridan to give back to the community that gave them their roots.

Mark Kinner, president of The Sheridan Community Foundation, explained what the challenge is.

Schools include Big Horn, Tongue River and Clearmont as well as Sheridan. The challenge marks the Class of 1976’s 50-year milestone and supports the Sheridan Community Foundation’s work in the community. Contributions made through the campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, up to a total of $250,000. The Sheridan Community Foundation and the Class of 1976 emphasize that participation extends beyond financial contributions. Supporters can contact classmates, share campaign materials, volunteer, and invite others to join.

Kinner added,

Donors who attended Sheridan High School are asked to identify their class year so participation by class can be recognized. Community supporters who did not attend Sheridan High School are also encouraged to participate. When making your donation, please enter your Sheridan High School class year in the “Notes” section of the donation form for example, Class of 1976.

The Sheridan Community Foundation responds to changing needs throughout Sheridan County through grants to local nonprofit organizations. Giving Back to Our Roots is about more than a single class or a single contribution.

Other school districts in Sheridan County are also urged to be a part of the campaign, and the donations will continue to add up.

Kinner said that one alumnus of Sheridan High School Class of 1976 was,

This is an opportunity for generations of Sheridan High School alumni, friends, families and community supporters to come together and give back to the community that gave us our roots. Class by class. Generation by generation. Let’s give back to our roots.
