Robert Joseph Ligocki, 79, passed away at his residence on October 3, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 18, 1941, at the Reynolds Home in Sheridan. In 1966, he married Joan Vollbrecht. She survives him, as do his 3 sons, Jay (Ami), Loren (Val), Merle (Amy), and 4 grandchildren, Jackson, Hamzah, Nailah, and Sylvie. Also, sister Theresa Harrington and brothers Larry and Herb Ligocki survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Ligocki, and granddaughter Ruby.
Robert was a third-generation rancher who made the most of his 79 years. He was a hard worker who also knew the benefits of taking time for recreation and relaxing with friends and family. He volunteered much time to others. He served on the boards of the Sheridan County Conservation District and Farmers Co-Op for many years, was a yearly participator in the annual Ag. Expo for fourth graders and gave ranch tours to third graders in the Sheridan School District. He provided music for community events, weddings, and funeral. He loved his Belgian workhorses. In addition to feeding cattle in winter with the team, he went on many wagon trips, participated in parades, and provided wagon services at many weddings and funeral.
The music goes on in our hearts and the horses have been put out to pasture. God bless the people who called or visited when he needed you the most. In lieu of flowers, please write and send a personal memory of Robert to the family or send a donation to the Sheridan County Conservation District, 1949 Sugarland Dr., Sheridan, WY 82801.
Interment will be held at the ranch, 350 Upper Cat Rd., at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 9, 2020, with Father Glenn Whewell officiating.
