James Robert Gardner of Sheridan, Wyoming, died peacefully in his home on August 14, 2020, at the age of 73.
James was born on March 21, 1947, in Farmington, New Mexico to James Ivan Gardner and Faye Athleen (Pruett) Gardner. James married Diane Ogg and together they had two children. Later he married Ann Bailey on October 8, 2008.
After graduating from Riverton High School he began working in the oil field. While later owning numerous businesses in Baggs, Wyoming he enjoyed raising his two kids. He then moved to Colorado where he was an avid fan of his daughter’s fastpitch softball games and the one number fan and Pit Crew Chief of his son’s dwarf car racing team, together they won many titles including two State Championships and one National Title.
James enjoyed hunting, racing, and cheering on his beloved Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. James was often referred to as Grand Dad from an early age because of his signature white hair and Unc because of his love for his numerous nieces and nephews. James’ favorite title of all was Grandpa.
James is proceeded in death by his parents, sister Gene Finch, brother-in-laws Leon Stiles and Harvey Finch, and best friend Jack Gaudern. James is survived by his wife, Ann Gardner, and children Sabrina (Marion) Brown, James D Gardner, Robert (Sara) Shostrom, and Elizabeth (JR) Wright, sister Eva Lee Stiles, grandchildren Bailee, Amaya, Tadasie, Ryden, James, and Finleigh, and numerous nieces and nephews. At James’ request, a private celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials in James’ honor can be sent to Camp Bethel PO Box 70 Dayton, WY 82836.

Jim, was one of our favorite friends and we will forever hold his friendship close to our hearts. We love Ann as well as Jim. God be with you now and always.
