The Sheridan Police Department Chief Travis Koltiska appeared on Sheridan Media’s Pulse encouraging parents to help young drivers develop lifelong safe driving habits during National Teen Driver Safety Week, Oct. 18-24.

The week allows parents an opportunity to highlight risks facing younger drivers including impaired driving, inconsistent seat belt use, distractions, fatigue, speeding and extra passengers.

Koltiska urges parents to set clear expectations and demonstrate responsible driving themselves, setting good examples for their teens behind the wheel. The Chief also emphasized that these critical conversations concerning safety should continue throughout the year.

The SPD also offers a free Traffic Safety Class for drivers of all experience levels, including teens preparing to get their licenses. The program consists of four sessions lasting approximately two hours each.
