Sheridan Man Arraigned for Aggravated Assault and Battery

A Sheridan man was arraigned on an aggravated felony charge Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

On September 13, 2025, the Sheridan Police Department responded to a report of a fight at a residence on Sheridan Avenue. An initial investigation on scene led to the arrest of 24-year-old Dale Pergola for allegedly hitting another individual with a baseball bat that had nails attached to it. The alleged victim suffered puncture wounds to his torso and hands.

Pergola, at Tuesday’s arraignment hearing, pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental impairment or deficiency to the charge of aggravated assault and battery. District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a three-day, #2 stack jury trial to begin December 8. A pretrial conference will take place November 12 at 9:30 am.

Pergola’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Circuit Court with the added condition that he comply with the evaluation that will be conducted by the Wyoming State Hospital due to his not guilty by reason of mental illness plea. The charge of aggravated assault and battery is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
