Dale Shelton

Mass of Christian Burial for Dale Shelton, 89-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away Monday at the Billings Clinic will be celebrated Friday, November 4^th at 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo with Father Jim Heiser as celebrant.  A visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Harness Funeral Home. A Vigil Service will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo with the American Legion and VFW in charge of military graveside rites. Donations in Dale’s memory may be made to St. Francis Animal Shelter at 107 Flatiron Dr. in Buffalo, or the Buffalo Senior Center at 671 W. Fetterman in Buffalo. Dale C. Shelton was born on January 10, 1933, in Buffalo, Wyoming to Marvin and Velma Shelton. He grew up and went to school in Buffalo and attended Johnson County High School.  After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Korea, Japan, and the South Pacific. Following an honorable discharge from the Navy, he was married on July 2^nd, 1956, in Buffalo to Alice Tass and they made their home in Buffalo where he worked in road construction.  He spent time doing ranch work and worked for Apache Oil as a mechanic.  He retired in 1999 and continued living in Buffalo until his death.

Dale was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and spending time in the mountains. He is survived by his wife Alice of Buffalo; one son Bruce Shelton and his wife Lisa of Flagstaff, Arizona; three daughters, Debbie Cosner and her husband Jim of Sheridan, Val Dahlin and her husband Bill also of Sheridan and Cindy Mertz and her husband David of Gillette. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Leona Rose and two brothers Vern and Ted Shelton.
