Sheridan/Buffalo Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball Team had their best 5 games of the season so far this past weekend, as the team would win the Black Hills Veterans Classic at Rapid City.
On Thursday, the team defeated the Billings 406 Flyers 7-6.
On Friday, Sheridan won vs. Chadron, Nebraska 15-zip and against Sturgis, South Dakota 10-2.
On Saturday, the Troopers topped Gering, Nebraska 4-3.
Those 4 wins put the team into yesterday’s championship game, and they would win vs. Rapid City Post 22 6-2, and improve their record to 23-12 on the season.
This week is a big week for Sheridan as the team starts conference play.
Tomorrow they play 2 at defending state champ Cheyenne Post 6, and then play 2 more on Wednesday at the Cheyenne Hawks, then play at home on Sunday vs. Casper.
This coming Thursday and Friday, the team will host its annual Baseball Camp and Whiffleball Tournament for those ages 7-14.
Events run from 9am until 12-noon at Thorne Rider Stadium.

On Sunday, it’s Little League Night at the Troopers’ game.
Teams and players will be recognized and get to run the bases in between games.
Elsewhere in Legion Baseball, the Buffalo Bulls went 1-3 in games played in a wood bat tournament in Torrington.
On Friday, the team won vs. Rocky Mountain out of Ft. Collins, Colorado 8-2, then lost 13-3 against Riverton.
On Saturday, the Bulls lost against Alliance, Nebraska 14-6, and the lost against Torrington 15-zip.
Buffalo has a record of 1-18 on the season and next play Saturday at the Sheridan Jets, and on Sunday at home vs. Cheyenne.
High School Rodeo: The State Finals were held this past weekend at Buffalo.
The top 4 in the end of the season standings are invited to compete at the High School National Finals Rodeo.
Representing North-Central Wyoming will be Kolby Smith of Sheridan in the bull riding (4th), Karly Peterson of Buffalo who is the state champ in girls cutting, Bleu Butler of Big Horn who was 3rd in the Goat Tying and James Foss of Buffalo in the Reined Cow Horse event.
The High School NFR is next month in Rock Springs.
Wyoming Shrine Bowl: This week is Shrine Bowl week for those seniors who recently graduated.
A total of 8 players from North Central Wyoming are in Casper this week for one week of practice ahead of the game.
On the North Team from Sheridan is Kelten Crow, Ty Gilbertson and Bridger Peldo.
Big Horn is sending Avon Barney, Kolby Butler and Will Taylor, while Zayne Huber and Hayden Jawors represent Buffalo.
The Shrine Bowl football is this Saturday at Natrona County High School.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost all 3 games this past weekend at home vs. the New York Mets.
Friday’s score was 4-2.
Mickey Moniak hit a solo home run in a losing effort.
Saturday’s game was an 8-1 final score.
The one came from a solo home run from Ryan McMahon.
Yesterday’s score was 13-5.
The Rocks are off today and will start a 3-game series tomorrow at home vs. San Francisco.
NBA Finals: Oklahoma City won Game 2 of the NBA Finals last night at home vs. Indiana 123-107, to even up the series at 1-game each.
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Indianapolis.
NHL Stanley Cup Finals: Florida and Edmonton are tied 1-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals, after the Panthers prevailed in double-overtime on the road back on Friday.
Game 3 is today at Florida, with the puck scheduled to drop at 6pm.
