Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College gearing up for exciting season
Sheridan College has announced they are excited to share the 2021-2022 Whitney Center for the Arts season with everyone in the Sheridan region. Every year, the college brings award-winning artists to Sheridan and showcases the work of students and faculty with highly anticipated performances in Kinnison Hall.
According to Sheridan College, the 2021-2022 season features a lineup of over 30 performances as well as four featured visual artists from around the country.
Kicking off the season on Sept. 18, is the world-renowned Boston Brass, sure to wow with their one-of-a-kind musical experience featuring performances of exciting classical arrangements and jazz favorites.
A busy October features Project Trio on Oct. 8, combining the virtuosity of world-class artists with the energy of rock stars to break down traditional ideas of chamber music. The contemporary dance company Ririe-Woodbury Dance will be on Oct. 29.
In November, ensemble-in-residence The Skyline Singers take the stage on Nov. 6, and Futureman & Silverman, a wide-ranging musical conversation between two of the world’s most eclectic and adventurous musicians, perform on Nov. 12.
Following a slate of Sheridan College ensemble and faculty performances, Chinese pianist Wynona Wang will kick off the New Year with a performance on Jan. 28, 2022.
April will feature Ellen Rowe, jazz pianist, composer and the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation at the University of Michigan, on April 22, and the Whitney Center Jazz Orchestra on April 30.
This season’s featured visual artists include Jodi Stuart, Alice Stone-Collins, Brandon Gellis, Felicia Cannon, Waddell Printmaker of the Year, and Chad Erpelding. Each will hold an artist talk and opening reception in the Edward A. Whitney Gallery where their work will be on display.
