The Northern Wyoming Community College District Board of Trustees has given the green light for the District to proceed with its budget for the 2022-23 school year budget.

The District will have a budget of $34-million this coming school year, and if things go smoothly, it’s anticipated the district will have a $1.3 million surplus, when the school year is over.

District President Doctor Walter Tribley says aside from athletics, when the budget cuts were made last year because of the COVID pandemic, there were a number of administrative positions consolidated as well.

He adds that just because there may be a surplus, that doesn’t mean every or anything that was cut in the past will be brought back.

It depends on what the district can sustain moving forward.

Dr. Walter Tribley

“Approximately 7 positions were in effect eliminated due to consolidations. That doesn’t mean we haven’t hired administrators or promoted people into or hire up in administration, but we effectively reduced the size of administration by 7 positions. We’re not intending to bring those back.”

The next District meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 17th…the same day of the special vote in Gillette to see if Gillette College will separate from Sheridan College and form its own college district.

It would be nice to see the Northern Wyoming Community College District ” bounce back” from painful budget cuts with a 1.3 million surplus after the 2021-2022 school year.
