The SFR are here to assist residents with alarms, at any time

Last week, Sheridan Fire and Rescue Chief Gary Harnish recommended residents check the batteries in their smoke alarms when they changed their clocks for Daylight Saving Time. The Chief made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to alert the community that should the batteries require changing in hard to reach alarms, the Sheridan Fire and Rescue is on hand to assist residents.

The Chief wished the community to know he and his firefighters are willing to help residents with any problems regarding fire or carbon monoxide alarms at any time. He said he would much rather respond to a call of a troubling smoke alarm than a fire caused by a smoke alarm defect.
While checking the smoke alarm’s battery, the Chief said to also check the date on the tag of the smoke alarm and promptly replace any alarm older than 10 years.

Through a partnership with the American Red Cross, Sheridan Fire and Rescue is happy to supply smoke alarms to any resident who cannot for any reason replace the smoke alarms in their home.

I was totally amazed that the Sheridan Fire Department was so willing to come to my home to change the battery in my smoke detector located at the top of a 12 ft. ceiling. I did have to replace all my smoke detectors which were 15 years old. I’ll be contacting these fantastic folks soon in order to get that last smoke alarm reinstalled. It’s a great service and they are so willing to help out!! Better than having to purchase a 12′ ladder to use every 5 years or so!!
