cvannoySheridan’s fourth annual Fall Pumpkin Festival happens this Saturday, November 2nd, at Sheridan High School from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. where the entire community is invited to smash, trash, and launch their pumpkins across the parking lot.
Pumpkin smashing and launching, fall activities, prizes, pumpkin t-shirts and hats are all free, while supplies last.
“Why? Well, why not!? It helps the City of Sheridan keep pumpkins out of the landfill and, instead, recycle them while having a ton of fun,” said Seliena Parker, City of Sheridan’s recycling & solid waste coordinator. “ Last year more than 800 people attended, we smashed and launched 4,200 lbs. worth of pumpkins. Overall, the community helped us recycle 14,720 lbs. of pumpkins, which were added to the City’s compost. This year, we hope to beat that number!”
While the smashing, launching and trashing will happen outside in the Sheridan High School parking lot, inside families will find fun Fall-themed activities and prizes sponsored by Sheridan-area organizations, including the Sheridan Recreation District, First Federal Bank & Trust, American Pacific Mortgage, Cascades of Sugarland Ridge, Sheridan Foster Parent Exchange, Kiwanis Club of Sheridan, Rollie Hruza State Farm, 307 Real Estate, Gannett Health, Wyldflower Learning Community and the Junior Rotary Club. Crazy Woman Face Painting, The Columbian Coffee Guy, Pine Top Soda Shop and Deb’s Delightful Treats will also be on hand for added fun. 2024 Fall Pumpkin Festival Sheridan High School.
