An amendment to the 2023-2024 Johnson County Budget has been approved by a vote of the county commission.

During their regular meeting Tuesday, County Clerk Jackie Camino explained why the amendment was needed.

The commission approved and accepted Resolution No. 717 which will transfer $1,815.10 from the National Opioid Settlement Fund to County Fund 57, the National Opioid Settlement Abatement Trust.

County Attorney Tucker Ruby, earlier explained that the funds were to be used for dealing with the opioid epidemic, stemming from a class action settlement in a nation-wide lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies supplying opioid drugs.
