A registered sex offender was recently sentenced in federal court in Wyoming for the charges of sexual abuse of a minor and the commission of a felony sex offense by a registered sex offender. 56-year-old Roy Moore, who resided on the Wind River Reservation at the time of the offenses, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl to 10 years in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release once the prison sentence is complete. Moore was also ordered to pay a $200 special assessment fee.

According to a media release from the Department of Justice, due to a conviction in Louisiana, Moore has been required to register as a sex offender since 2000. Between 2009 and 2015, he was residing on the Wind River Reservation when he committed the felony sex offense against a minor.  The crime was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kerry Jacobson prosecuted the case.
