cvannoyOn Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m., during Clearmont Day, Bobbi Mitzel Member Relations Director at Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce and Gail Symons, Chamber Ambassador, joined members of the Clearmont Historical Group and visitors at the Clearmont Historical Center for a ribbon cutting, welcoming the Group as a new chamber member.
Before the ceremony, Clearmont Historical Group president Robert Prusak, talked about the Historical Center and Museum.
Along with local residents’ natural history exhibits, Dave Nicolarsen, Sheridan College, has on display several dinosaur and mammoth fossils at the museum.
Mitzel added this about the new member to the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce.
She added about the Nicolarsen’s display currently at the center, “We need to get the word out. Mammoths in this valley were prevalent and it is something you don’t get to see every day,”
President Prusak also talked about an upcoming program that Nicolarsen will present at the Center in conjunction with the exhibit.
The Clearmont Historical Group works to preserve the history of the Eastern Clear Creek Valley, from Ucross east to Leiter. Several years ago, the group purchased the old post office building on Front Street in Clearmont to share the rich historical heritage of the surrounding area.
The small museum, along with tours, events and links to many interesting cultural and historic sites in Northeastern Wyoming, allows the visitor to take a trip back in time to when the West was being settled.
The Center also has a collection of history books for sale, published by the Clearmont Historical Group, as well as other books written by local authors.
The Historical Group has a website, Clearmont Historical Group, they can be reached at 1-307-758- 4685 or at clearmonthistory@gmail.com
