Jentel Artist’s Residency is inviting the public to take a moment as the temperatures rise, to cool down and relax at June’s Jentel Presents.

According to Jentel, the residency program’s new cohort of artists come from far and wide to take in the beauty of a Wyoming summer. Jentel Presents allows these artists to share their visual artworks and writings with the Sheridan community. This community outreach program, featuring visual presentations and readings by the residents at the Jentel Artist Residency Program, will take place from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 25, at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library Inner Circle in Sheridan. Light refreshments will be provided. Jentel Presents invites the public to bring lunch and enjoy this presentation. Jentel Presents is free and open to all who wish to join.

This month’s presenters include Lauren Gidwitz, Brooklyn, NY; A mixed media artist; Lauren is a painter who works in multiple mediums. She is prone to wanderlust, studies languages, and has about fifty plants (in a tiny apartment).

Natalie Woodlock, Minneapolis, MN; A printmaker; Woodlock’s work explores queer subculture, creating heraldic and commemorative silkscreened portraits of friends from her queer community.

Jeanne Ciravolo, Hamden, CT; A mixed media artist; Ciravolo’s work is about visual storytelling through collage. Collage is surprising, juxtapositions of collage and the drawn figure often lead the narrative in surprising directions.

James Kao, Chicago, IL; A painter; Kao is interested in understanding how micro-ecosystems function. He is the kind of person who may choose ice cream over all other options for dinner.

Gene Kwak, Omaha, NC; A novelist; Kwak grew up Korean American in Omaha, Nebraska. Raised on hill country blues and hip-hop, he somehow became a novelist.

Francesca King, Laramie, WY; A fiction writer; After completing her M.A. in creative writing at Royal Holloway (London), King moved to the U.S. to pursue an MFA at the University of Wyoming. She is now the Interim Director for the UW Writing Center.

Join Jentel as they host the next Jentel Presents on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
