Museum at the Bighorns celebrates Historic Preservation Month
The month of May is Historic Preservation Month. According to the U.S. National Park Service, the month gives people a chance to promote historic places for the purpose of instilling national and community pride, promoting heritage tourism, and showing the social and economic benefits of historic preservation.
Across the nation, thousands of people participate annually in Preservation Month celebrations.
Traffic has been high at the Museum at the Bighorns, even though they are operating on spring hours. While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse Pulse, Museum Board President Edre Mair told listeners exhibits have been changed over the winter and the public has shown increased interest.
Museum at the Bighorns board member Beki Speas told listeners that the museum will celebrate by hosting a community day in honor of Historic Preservation Month.
Admission to the museum will be free on May 14, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The museum updated several exhibits over the winter, and interactive displays have returned to the floor.
