During their recent regular meeting, the Buffalo City Council asked Police Chief Sean Bissett for an update on the status of the body-worn cameras for patrol officers.

Bissett said the department is moving forward and making progress to get them into the field, and expects them to be up and usable soon.

Earlier this fall the council accepted a $24,000 grant to purchase 12 body-worn cameras for the Buffalo Police Department through the Small, Rural, and Tribal (SRT) program.

The SRT micro-grant program is funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA).

The purpose is to provide funds and technical support to small, rural, and tribal agencies to implement body-worn cameras.
