The Firearms Research Center (FRC), housed at the University of Wyoming College of Law, has launched a new page on its website dedicated to suicide awareness and prevention.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, UW Director of Institutional Communications Chad Baldwin spoke on the new prevention webpage.
The FRC was founded just this year, to establish more voices in the firearms discussion; create a pipeline of graduates prepared to serve as firearms lawyers; and act as a reliable, nonpartisan resource for firearms-related information.
According to UW, through a partnership with the Cheyenne Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and Walk the Talk America, the FRC’s new webpage includes safe storage maps, gun safety tips and a mental health directory.
FRC Executive Director Ashley Hlebinsky said the suicide crisis is devastating families across the nation, and the FRC is committed to doing their part to raise awareness and provide resources to the public. She said through the use of this webpage, the FRC hopes to educate those who own, use, sell and/or rent firearms about safe handling and storage practices, as well as encourage efforts to prevent suicide involving firearms.
