The Sheridan Community Land Trust invites the public to a special Discovery Session, Native Plants for Your Home.

Director of Marketing & Development for the Sheridan Community Land Trust Chris Vrba told listeners of Public Pulse a little about this upcoming session and the activities that are planned with Alisha Bretzman, founder of Piney Island Native Plants.

Attendees will learn about the waterwise characteristics – leaf structures, hair types, color – of many of the native plants Bretzman and her team grows and examine the different hair types under a hand lens. Attendees will also look at a research project by a Sheridan College student on various water regimes on seven different drought-tolerant native plant species within walking distance to the nursery.

Join SCLT for this special Discovery Session and learn about growing techniques and about plants that can be used to create a water-wise landscape.

This session will begin at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 11, at Sheridan College Piney Island Native Plants nursery greenhouses. Organizers ask that attendees please park in Lot K.
