The Johnson County Commission, during their meeting this week, voted to allocate funds to the One-Percent Committee for them to distribute this spring.

After discussions, the commission decided to set their allocation at $100,000 saying caution was needed with revenues down significantly again this year.

Commissioner Bill Novotny explained that those county entities applying for funds will be discussing their requests during this year’s budget sessions.

Johnson County and the City of Buffalo will both allocate one-percent funds to be distributed through the One-Percent Committee.

Buffalo’s City Council voted in February to set their allocation to the One-Percent Committee at $175,000.

One-percent funds come from additional sales tax revenue generated in the county and are typically allocated to outside organizations as well as city and county departments.
