Full Moon Fort at Fort Phil Kearny

Tickets are now on sale for the Annual Full Moon Fort Tour at Fort Phil Kearny. This year the event will be held on October 3rd & October 4th.

Reservation times are 7:00pm; 7:30pm; 8:00pm; 8:30pm; 9:00pm on both days. Cost is $10 per person; children 11 and under free, but they do need a reservation.

Site Superintendent Sharie Shada added that each year another aspect of the fort’s story is told. Visitors also get to experience the site at night, which is a completely different experience than visiting during the day. One can really put themself into the shoes of those who lived this history and get a feel for what it may have been like here in the 1860s.

The full-moon tours will explore the more grisly details of fort life. Tour guides will lead groups through the fort by lantern-light and moonlight to experience an evening of true stories that are too eerie to be fiction.

The 7 p.m. tours are more ‘kid friendly’ and the stories are less graphic.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.fortphilkearny.com or by calling the Fort at 307-684- 7629. Tour sizes are limited, and times fill up quickly, so be sure to book early!
