Pat BlairThe deadline for nonprofit organizations to apply for money from the Community Charitable Relief Fund has been extended to 5 p.m. Jan. 29.
The Community Charitable Relief Fund program is designed to allow nonprofit organizations, including churches, that qualify as tax-exempt to seek reimbursement for expenditures relating to providing goods, services or payments to the public related to COVID-19 public health emergencies.
Funds in the program come through the CARES Act. The program rolled out of the governor’s office on Dec. 21, and President Trump signed the coronavirus stimulus package extending the CARES Act spending deadline on Sunday.
In addition to extending the spending deadline, the new legislation means that Section 8, Awards for Lost Donations and Other Revenue, is now in effect.
The application and complete set of rules to apply for these funds is on the county’s website at https://www.sheridancounty.com/governors-office-community-charitable-relief-fund/.
