The Sheridan Advocacy and Resource Center is a cornerstone nonprofit offering comprehensive support to victims of violent crimes in Sheridan County, including emergency shelter, a 24/7 hotline, legal advocacy, counseling, housing support, and community awareness initiatives.

This spring, staff at the Center have seen a notable uptick in clients seeking help — a trend Executive Director Yvonne Swanson and Advocate Brooke Deitchler recently discussed during an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse.

Throughout the U.S., domestic violence tends to increase around the holiday season and even during the summer months — in some years, by as much as 12%. Swanson said she found no clear explanation for the increase this past season.
