Sheridan Kiwanis Duck Race Features over 1,100 Ducks
The Annual Kiwanis Club of Sheridan Duck Race happens every Parade Friday, and the club members were at Grinnell Plaza early that morning to secure last-minute purchases of ducks for those hopeful of winning prizes later in the day.
Kiwanis Club member, and past President Jennifer Kahm spoke with Sheridan Media about what this year’s funds raised will do.
Kahm said ducks can be purchased for $5 each or 5 for $20, and usually they sell around 1,100 of them per year.
She explained the race, which has been happening for over 60 years, takes place in Kendrick Park.
This year’s winners were 1st place, Sarah Lemon, winning $750; 2nd place, Drew Davis, winning $500; and 3rd place, Cooper Stach, winning $250.
