Remembering 9-11 at A/C School

On Friday, September 11, the Arvada-Clearmont Student Council invited the public to Arvada-Clearmont School for Patriot Day Remembrance of the tragic events on September 11, 2001. A large crowd of Clearmont area residents attended the ceremony.

The event began at 7:30 a.m. with $1 donuts and coffee, proceeds went to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

At 8:05, A/C Student Body President Jorgen Mitchelena, along with students Jonah Ambler, Riley Olson and Addy Miller, each said a few words about 911.

Mitchelena welcomed the crowd.

The first song was American the Beautiful, and Addy Miller said that it was based on a poem by Katharine Lee Bates and later set to music. It reminds us of the beauty of the land we call home. She added this about that September Day 25 years ago.

Riley Olson spoke about the tragic events of that day.

One song the band played was My Country, ‘Tis of Thee,

Jonah Ambler talked about the song, saying it holds an important part in United States history.

Navy Veteran John Kiser completed the ceremony, raising the flags to half mast, and the students were all encouraged to shake hands will Kiser and thank him for his service to our country.
