Ron RichterA hearing to extend the probation of a convicted felon was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. In July of 2010, Joshua Hairston was arrested and charged with a number of crimes related to stealing items from vehicles in Sheridan, along with various computer related equipment from a Volunteers of America group home, and a bicycle from the Sheridan County YMCA. As part of a plea deal with the State, Hairston pleaded guilty to three counts of Felony Burglary and was sentenced in December of 2010 to 3 to 6 years in prison. Hairston has served his prison sentence, and was scheduled to be released from probation next month.
According to Probation and Parole in Casper, Hairston has been non-compliant while on probation and has not been consistent with checking in with his probation officer. Sheridan County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Christopher LaRosa’s motion to extend Hairston’s probation by one year was granted by District Court Judge John Fenn, who also ordered Hairston to complete a cognitive behavioral program during the term of his probation.
