Ron RichterA draft rule to allow the concealed carry of firearms in University of Wyoming facilities will be considered by the UW’s Board of Trustees at their regular meeting November 20-22. The draft rule is expected to be posted on the Board’s website no later than 5 pm Wednesday, November 13. The Firearms Research Center (FRC), which is housed in the University of Wyoming’s College of Law, has two upcoming public events planned to discuss the draft rule.
According to a media release from the University of Wyoming, on Thursday, November 14, at 12:30 pm, the FRC will host a webinar featuring Vice President and General Counsel Tara Evans, UW Police Chief Josh Holland, Branding Iron Editor-in-Chief Ven Meester and FRC Director George Mocsary, a law professor. The online event will be moderated by FRC Executive Director Ashley Hlebinsky, who will provide information about the content of the draft rule, which would allow law-abiding and qualified people to carry firearms in many university buildings.
Students, faculty and staff also are invited to attend and participate in an FRC town-hall meeting Monday, November 18, at 12:30 pm in the West Ballroom of the Wyoming Union. The in-person event will be moderated by College of Business Assistant Professor Matt Burgess and will allow participants to ask questions, glean insight and, ultimately, weigh in on this important topic.
