Rally to Stop Public Lands Sale is Thursday

A proposal introduced last week to the U.S. Senate’s Budget Reconciliation bill by Senator Mike Lee of Utah was removed from the spending bill after it was determined by the Senate Parliamentarian that the provision violated Senate rules.
Senator Lee’s proposed provision would have authorized the sale of between two and three million acres of public lands managed by the U.S. National Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management in 11 different states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Lee’s provision would have also made an additional 250 million acres eligible for sale to “any interested party.”
According to information from the Wyoming Wilderness Association, a “Stop the Public Lands Grab” rally will be held Thursday, June 26 in Cheyenne at the State Capitol at 6 pm. More information on the rally as well as how you can register can be found here.

The Trump administration also wants to rescind the rule blocking logging on national forest lands with an immediate intended goal of harvesting timber on one third of all US National Forests.

Let our representatives know loud and clear that public lands belong in public hands. This fight isn’t over folks!

Public lands belong in public hands! We must continue to protect our
forests, vast wide open spaces and hunting grounds for future generations.
We must strive to keep Wyoming open for cattle grazing, hikers, and
everyone to enjoy.

I hope we all remember the proponents of this absurd proposal come next election and thereafter.
