Sheridan Police Department Chief Travis Koltiska made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the many upcoming events that will be taking place this summer throughout the city.
Public safety is the top priority for law enforcement in any situation. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, research indicates that alcohol use during the teenage years can interfere with normal adolescent brain development and increase the risk of developing alcohol use disorder. In addition, underage drinking contributes to a range of acute consequences, such as injuries, sexual assaults, alcohol overdoses, and deaths—including those from motor vehicle crashes.
The SPD Chief said he has seen many techniques used to prevent minors from purchasing alcohol during these events.
