SCSD#3 Board Swears in New Member

At the May 8 board meeting of the SCSD#3 Board of Trustees, new officers were elected and a new board member, Kelly Little, was sworn in. Little fills the spot that was vacated by Wade Betz, who recently moved out of district.

Vice-Chairman Karis Prusak, who chaired the meeting, was elected as chairman; vice-chairman, Sam Olson; treasurer, Deborah Guyer; clerk, Kelly Little and Trinity Lewis as board trustee.

The board also named the teacher and non-certified staff of the year.

As there was tie between two teachers, Joslyn Camino and Adam Georgeson, the board awarded a dual teacher of the year. Mike Buss was voted as non-certified staff of the year.

In other business, the board approved Josh Johnson’s resignation as transportation supervisor, and voted to advertise, interview and hire a new transportation supervisor for the 2024-25 school year.

They also voted to award the bid for propane for the upcoming year to Big Horn Cooperative. They also approved the dual and concurrent enrollment MOU with NWCCD.

The board approved to advertise for bids for a 24×48 foot greenhouse to be constructed of 8-mil, dual-layer polycarbonate, and a concrete pad and utility work for the greenhouse. They also approved to add a Horticulture Science course to the district’s science course offerings.

The board also voted to increase the substitute teacher pay from $110 per day and $65 per half day to $150 a day and $75 for a half day. They also approved to raise the book scholarship given to graduating students for the 2025 graduates.

They approved to pay Jim Fennema as certificated volunteer high school girls basketball coach for the 2023-24 school year, and to offer a contract to Rany Kjerstad for his IDEA counseling services.

Clearmont graduation will be held on May 19 at 2 p.m. at the Clearmont School.
