Lonnie Wright Announces Candidacy for County Commission

Sheridan County Commissioner Lonnie Wright announced that he will seek re-election as County Commissioner. Wright issued a media release stating that he is a conservative Republican with a strong belief in personal property rights and that he will continue to work hard to be fiscally responsible with public funds. Wright has served as a county commissioner for the last three and a half years and spent a year as chairman of the board.

Wright currently serves on the Tripartite Board, Sheridan County Joint Powers Fire Board, SAWS Joint Powers Board, Sheridan County Weed and Pest Board, and Wyoming Local Government Liability Pool Board. Recently, He served on the Sheridan County Historic Preservation Commission. Wright has been a resident of Sheridan County for 34 years. He has been a volunteer with the Big Horn Fire Department, the Big Horn Lions Club, the Big Horn Education Fund, the Sheridan WYO Rodeo Board, Sheridan College Agricultural Advisory Board, and is the Chairman of the Big Horn Fire District.

Wright said he and his wife have eight children, three of which live in Sheridan County with their families. He added that because of his seven local grandchildren, he has a strong interest in the future of Sheridan County and the future of Wyoming.

The candidate filing period in Wyoming for this year’s elections is May 16th through May 31st. The Primary Election will be Tuesday, August 20th, while the General Election will be Tuesday, November 5th.
