The spring and summer traveling season in the nation’s first national park is about to begin.
The west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, as well as two of the main roads on the west side of the park, are scheduled to open to motor vehicle traffic this coming Friday, (April 19th) at 8am.
The other two main roads are from Mammoth Hot Springs to Old Faithful and from Norris to Canyon Village.
Changing weather conditions could force park officials to temporarily re-close those roads, until it’s safe to open them again.
National Park Week starts on Saturday (April 20th) and on that day, Yellowstone National Park will waive entrance fees at the west, north and northeast entrances.
The roads connecting the north to the northeast entrances of the park are open year-round.
Other roads within the park are still closed and snowplow crews are working on clearing them.
The east entrance to the park is scheduled to open on May 3rd and the south entrance on May 10th.
