Suspect Identified Regarding Homicide On Gladstone Street In Sheridan

At approximately 7:07pm on January 7, 2024, the Sheridan Police Department received a call from a man who had found his wife deceased in their home on Gladstone Street.

Officers arrived on scene and found a deceased 64 year old woman inside the house.

Upon initial investigation it appeared as though the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

During the course of the investigation, Sheridan Police Department detectives developed probable cause to arrest Israel Macedo Melvin (22 year old male), whose address is 945 Gladstone Street in Sheridan, of Murder in the Second Degree (WS 6-2-102).

Israel Melvin was charged through the Circuit Court of Sheridan County during the late afternoon of January 9, 2024.

Israel Melvin was arrested as part of a separate investigation prior to the Sheridan Police Department receiving the report of the homicide.

Israel Melvin was arrested by Sheridan Police Department officers earlier on January 7, 2024 for Use/Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance for an incident on the 1300 block of Coffeen Avenue in Sheridan.

It is the prerogative to the Sheridan County Coroner to release the identity of the victim.

The investigation is active.

Sheridan Police Department detectives are processing evidence and conducting follow up taskings.
