SPD swears in second reserve officer

In December of 2022, The Sheridan Police Department announced the swearing in of their first officer of the new Reserve Police Officer Program.
Meagan Phillips was the first officer to be sworn into the SPD Reserve Police Officer Program and on March 15, the second officer, John Maholick was sworn into service.
Developed by SPD Lt. Dan Keller, the program prepares reserve officers for service through the same training requirements as full time officers.

The hiring process and background checks are also conducted under the same requirements as every full time officer. Reserve officers are citizens who volunteer their time to serve their community in the role of a police officer, adding extra officers on the street when needs arise such as during large events.
Both Phillips and Maholick brought former experiences as officers to the SPD.
