cvannoyAt the Monday, Oct. 17 Clearmont Town Council meeting, Pete Bassett was introduced as the new town maintenance supervisor, as John Kiser is retiring. Bassett is currently working with Kiser, “learning the ropes,” as Schock put it.
A guest at the meeting was Deputy Ryan Kerns of the Sheridan County Sheriff’s office.
Mayor Chris Schock reported that bill HB0060, which was passed last session and concerns minimum fiscal procedures training for public officials.
Clerk Vivian Ramsay said the training is probably mostly on-line. She added that is something that must be done as a council. Schock added that this training will be a requirement for receiving grants, and if a public official does not take the training they will be required to step down. Ramsay said they just wanted the council to be aware that this will be required.
Schock also mentioned that the One-Cent Sale Tax in Sheridan County is again on the ballot Nov. 8. The money goes to roads, infrastructure, public safety, parks, and community development. He mentioned the amount the town received during the last four years the tax was in place.
Also discussed was Halloween, and the town hall will participate in Trick or Treat. Ramsay will decorate Town Hall and purchase the treats.
The break in the water line from Well #2 was discussed, and the council voted to approve the cost to replace the line. Schock said that just fixing it won’t do. “It needs to be replaced.”
Next meeting will be Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.
