On July 26th beginning at 6:00 p.m., Fort Phil Kearny will be the site of the annual Archaeology Fair. Included in the event will be a prehistoric overview of Wyoming; flint knapping; an atlatl toss; artifact identification and dig boxes for the youngsters.

Please join a team of professional archaeologists to learn about Wyoming archaeology and prehistory.

Dave McKee will present a brief introduction to archaeology of the Northwest Plains entitled “12,000 years in 20 minutes”.

Bring your arrowheads and other stone tools to be examined and identified by Dr. Cody Newton. Rick Laurent will demonstrate the art of flint knapping to produce arrowheads and spear points. Kristin Campbell and Jenny Aello will share the excitement of discovery with dig boxes for kids of all ages.

McKee will set up his atlatl throwing target so guests can test their skills as big game bison hunters. This will be an educational and fun evening at Fort Phil Kearny and a journey to the distant past.
