City Grants Special Exemptions for Eight Property Owners
On April 7, the Sheridan City Council approved Ordinance 2287 on third and final reading. The ordinance amended the M-1 zoning district to add heavy industrial uses to the list of uses requiring a Special Exemption by the Board of Adjustment, and created a new M-2 zoning district that allows for light and heavy industrial uses with no special exemption required. The Council also approved a resolution at the April 7 meeting authorizing the governing body to grant Special Exemptions to M-1 property owners with an existing heavy industrial use that would be impacted by Ordinance 2287.
Since that time, there have been eight property owners that have come forward requesting a special exemption. The City Council, at their recent business meeting, approved a resolution granting the eight special exemption requests. City Planner Kelly Schroeder.
The city-initiated special exemption process terminates on October 6. Property owners within the M-1 Industrial District who have an existing heavy industrial use are encouraged to contact Schroeder at City Hall prior to October.
