Sheriff: Buffalo Seeing Increase in Homeless People
Buffalo has seen an increase in the number of homeless people, and that is concerning to local law enforcement and other organizations that deal with the problem.
Johnson County Sheriff Rod Odenbach discussed the issue with the county commissioners, saying they have recently had two 72-hour emergency holds at the jail on individuals that were homeless, and are seeing more than in the past.
The Sheridan facility mentioned by Odenbach is the regional inpatient behavioral health and crisis stabilization unit proposed for Sheridan Memorial Hospital (SMH).
Both the Sheridan and Johnson County Commissions as well as other organizations in both counties have supported the idea of the crisis facility, and
SMH has applied for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding through the State Loan and Investments Board (SLIB) for the facility.
Odenbach said there has been an increase in the number of people in crisis and he’s not sure why, other than Buffalo is a beautiful place and sits at the junction of two interstate highways.

Homeless or drug addicted? Fentanyl is becoming a serious problem in the US as millions of pills come across the open southern border, and the biden administration isn’t doing a darn thing about it.

Not sure why…seriously, has he been living under a rock the past 2 yrs??!! It’s called rent and housing too high, getting houses sold from underneath them and having nowhere to go. When “affordable ” housing is $1200 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment and buying a cookie cutter house is considered “affordable” at $250,000…where else except the streets are people able to go. The nearest shelter (if you can afford to get to them) is either in Billings or Casper.
