While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Sheridan Police Department Captain Tom Ringley told listeners that the annual Drug Take Back Day on April 30, was a successful event.

According to SPD Chief Travis Koltiska, thanks to the prescription drug take back bin at the police station, over 450 lbs of prescription drugs were taken back in 2021.

The Drug Take Back Day offers residents an opportunity to turn in old unused prescription drugs with amnesty with no questions asked. The bin, located just inside the Sheridan Police Station allows for the same amnesty.

Ringley does ask that the public not turn in needles or radioactive drugs to the bin as those pose dangers to the public and officers.

Drugs that cannot be reissued by the Wyoming Department of Health taken during the events and from the bin are turned into the Drug Enforcement Agency who destroy the drugs through incineration.
