Partial Fire Restrictions Remain in Place in Sheridan County
Partial fire restrictions remain in place in Sheridan County. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The Sheridan County Commissioners issued a reminder Monday that partial fire restrictions are still in place in Sheridan County and will remain in effect until a longer trend of cool-wet weather transpires. In response to public comments, Sheridan County is once again this year allowing small “recreational” fires at residences. The fire must be centered within a 15-foot cleared radius, free of any burnable vegetation and at least 15 feet away from a structure. This allows for a small fire in green backyards for cooking, warmth, religious, ceremonial or other special purposes.
Residents are asked to make sure their recreational fire is kept small, and completely extinguished when unattended. The Sheridan County Board of County Commissioners, Rural Fire Departments and the County Fire Warden would like to thank residents for their cooperation. Refraining from all open burning, discharge of fireworks, and following the guidelines when welding, grinding, branding, and using a burn barrel will minimize the fire risk throughout Sheridan County. The partial fire restrictions went into effect on June 21.
