Clearmont Council Discusses Water Tank

Monday, Aug 16, Clearmont Town Council met at town hall with all council members but Jay Buhr present. One visitor, Eric Horsley of the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Department was present.

Topics discussed were the water tank upgrade and cleaning, and funding.

Mayor Rohrer said that Governor Gordon called to follow up on how the project was progressing.

Maintenance man John Kiser said that he was planning to put in the chlorine injection pump on the water line on Tuesday.

Mayor Rohrer said that he had not heard from Maguire Iron, on just when they planned to finish the water tank project. Mayor Rohrer will call them to find out a date.

According to town Clerk Amy Vineyard, the beams on the inside of the lid of the tank are rusting and need to be replaced, then the company will sand and resurface them, and they will sand down and re-surface the inside of the tank.

The outside of the tank will also receive a new paint job. Mcguire Iron presented the town with a proposal to paint the town name or the school logo on the water tank for an extra cost. The town will discuss it at a later time.

“There’s no hurry on that,” Mayor Rohrer said. “But the cost is fairly high.”

The project is scheduled to be started sometime in September, and will last approximately one to two months. During that time there will be limited water for the town, and there will be a public meeting held and residents will be informed of exact dates on the project and when to begin conserving water.

Also discussed was the over $13,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds that the town received. “These funds have to be spend on specific items, and the town is not yet sure what they are going to use the funding for,” Clerk Vineyard said.
