Sheridan budget for fiscal year 2021 reduced by $6 million

Tough decisions lay ahead for Sheridan City Council members as the city’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2021 is reduced by $6 million from last year.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, City Council president Rich Bridger told listeners that reduction is due to a few factors.
The budget is based upon a projected 25% reduction in sales and use tax, largely due to COVID-19.
Council requested that Sheridan city department heads prepare their internal budget requests by 9%,
Also appearing on Public Pulse, Councilman Aaron Linden said the 25% reduction is only a projection and remains hopeful the council will not be forced to dip into reserves as restrictions are lifted and sales tax revenues makes a return.
The City of Sheridan’s fiscal year 2021 budget deadline is June 15.
