A project to replace the roof of Highland Park Elementary School isn’t likely to happen.

In a meeting of Sheridan County School District 2 trustees earlier this week, the district’s Facilities Director Mathers Heuck said Highland Park is last on a project list approved by the state, and that, combined with the money approved for all the projects, means the Sheridan school isn’t likely to be funded.

In a report on the school district’s construction projects, Heuck said renovations at Sagebrush Elementary are about 60 percent complete. He also updated trustees on other district projects under way.

He said that project will be wrapped up before August.

Heuck said with school closures, the district is considering starting some construction on the planned new Sheridan High School science wing earlier than originally planned.

Trustees amended the award of the bid for furniture at Sagebrush Elementary, after the original successful bidder refused to honor the bid price. The amended bid is to Top Office Products and Virco Inc.

Trustees also awarded bid for new lunchroom tables at Highland Park Elementary School to Top Office Products for just over $31,200 for the new tables plus a removal fee of $300 for the old ones.

Heuck said the tables to be replaced are 18 years old and structurally failing.
