AARP is asking if you or someone you know are age 50 or older using life experience to give back, solve problems or change lives. If so, you may want to consider applying for the AARP Purpose Prize award.

The AARP Purpose Prize award is a national award that recognizes founders of 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) nonprofits who are 50 and older. According to the national organization, AARP will award five winners $50,000 for their organizations and a year of support to help broaden the scope of their work. In addition, up to 10 fellows will receive $10,000 for their organizations and a year of support.

Applications will be accepted until Feb. 29. Apply by clicking here.

“The AARP Purpose Prize award recognizes applicants who go beyond individual volunteering to take on a specific social problem in a sustained, systematic, and measurable way that aims to make the world a better place for us all,” AARP Wyoming State Director Samuel Shumway said. “All across Wyoming, people 50-plus are using their life experience to give back in ways that elevate their communities and the world. The AARP Purpose Prize award seeks to recognize these leaders.”
